We are Mandy and Malte, parents of two children and self-employed. Our daughter was diagnosed with severe epilepsy as an infant. Since then, illness, severe disability, and care have dominated our daily lives. We report on this in detail in our story .

Today, 10 years later, we are doing better. We have learned to live with the illness and still manage to be successful and happy both professionally and personally.
We’d like to use our drive to participate in an adventure rally across Scandinavia in May/June 2025. During this rally, we will not only promote inclusion, but also, in accordance with the rally’s statutes, we would like to raise funds for the charitable cause we’d like to introduce to you here.
Our charity mission
The primary purpose of these donations will be the “Support Association for Children with Epilepsy in Northern Germany” – Help for Children Suffering from Seizures . From our own experience, we know that this association supports sick children and their parents with incredibly great projects and ensures that families going through difficult times have a little more relief.
As a sidekick, we would also like to support the “Hände für Kinder” (Hands for Children)” project at the Neuer Kupferhof in Hamburg: a fantastic short-term care facility where seriously ill children in need of care can experience a kind of “vacation” – while also allowing their families a break from caregiving. This project is supported not only by dedicated full-time staff, but also by countless volunteers!
It is a matter close to our hearts for us, the McWell by SGB IT oHG team , to ask you for a donation.
Förderverein Epilepsie

Epilepsy is a serious neurological disorder that presents many families with significant challenges. The association “Help for Children with Seizures” (also known as the Epilepsy Support Association) has been committed to supporting affected families for years. They do tremendous work by raising awareness, providing financial resources, and facilitating access to medical care. The association supports the clinics “DRK North German Epilepsy Center (Schwentinetal)” and the “Clinic for Children and Adolescent Medicine II – Neuropediatrics and Social Pediatrics” (UKSH Kiel) with incredibly exciting projects.
Goals of the Epilepsy Support Association
The association pursues several important goals:
- Education and awareness-raising: Information campaigns and events raise awareness of epilepsy in society.
- Support for affected families: In the past, the association has made hospital stays more bearable for many children and families by purchasing toys and play equipment, modernizing playgrounds, and making rooms more child-friendly. The association also supports the hospital clown and provides books and reference books for parents’ libraries.
- Promoting research: The association supports research projects aimed at developing better treatment options and cures for epilepsy and even provides support for the purchase of technical diagnostic equipment.
Hände für Kinder e.V.

Additionally, we would like to donate a portion of the collected donations to the “Hands for Children” association. This fantastic facility in Hamburg offers children in need of care and their families a break from everyday life. The stated goal of this short-term care facility is:
The Neue Kupferhof in Hamburg is a short-term home for children and young people with disabilities and their families. As a complement to the existing children’s hospices, we accommodate children in need of care from all over Germany for up to 28 days a year.
An experienced team of qualified nurses and special needs teachers cares for the children around the clock with compassion and expertise. Targeted educational and therapeutic services complement the care. A large network of volunteers supports us in all areas.
While our team lovingly cares for, nurtures, and individually supports the guest children, parents and siblings stay in the family rooms of the Neuer Kupferhof. Here, caring relatives can recharge their batteries, find peace, and attend to their own needs. Here, they have time for things that are unthinkable in the demanding daily routine: relaxing, sleeping in and sleeping through the night, enjoying a quiet coffee, or enjoying the green surroundings on a walk or bike ride. Parents and siblings can also participate in various sporting, relaxing, and creative leisure activities. Of course, every family is free to spend time with their child or go on excursions together.
We were also able to experience the work and commitment of this institution firsthand – we are enthusiastic about the way in which not only the approximately 70 full-time employees look after the well-being of the guest children and their families, but also the more than 70 volunteers who contribute there.
Our goal is to raise a total of €4,000 €8.000 for this good cause by June 6, 2025, together with you!
You can make a simple and secure donation via the German non-profit organization betterplace.org. Of course, immediately after your donation you will not only receive our unconditional gratitude but also a donation receipt for submission to the tax office.
